The Health Team is focused on permanently improving the health and wellness of the greater Joplin community by facilitating communication and collaboration among local organizations and volunteers. The team seeks to eliminate health obstacles and create an environment where everyone has the right to a healthy well-being and access to a healthy lifestyle through impactful initiatives.
Sub-Teams Healthy Kids sub-team: Focused on efforts to improve youth physical and mental health and wellness through Healthy Kids Move and Health Kids Eat Well.
Healthy Workforce and Families sub-team: Focused on expanding opportunities for low or no-cost activities that support nutrition, physical activity, as well as physical and mental health and wellness.
Identify, invite, and engage with missing organizations and populations within the community and region that should be involved with the Health Team in order to increase communication and collaboration, as well as limit duplication of services and initiatives by 2024.
Create and launch a child and family-focused physical and mental health and wellness campaign including positive, inspirational, and actionable messaging by 2027.
Contribute to the creation and/or addition of at least one low or no-cost family-focused physical and mental health and wellness activity through collaboration per year for four years by 2027.
Contribute to the creation and/or addition of at least one low or no-cost child-focused physical and mental health and wellness activity through collaboration per year for four years by 2027.
Explore positive cultural and environmental impacts from other communities that could be applied to the Joplin community by 2025.
Meeting The team meets every third Wednesday of the month, 11:30am-1:00pm.
