Poverty Team

Overview

Poverty is a complex, multi-faceted issue that affects every community. One Joplin understands that no person or organization can deal with poverty on their own. That's why we're inviting people from all over Joplin to join the conversation and collaborate together to create people-focused solutions.

Our vision is to foster a thriving community whose people are productive, self-sufficient, and in healthy relationships. We do this by bringing Joplinites together to collectively impact poverty in three key areas: housing, employment and social capital.

Our goals for each of these areas can be found below  as well as the 5 year impact models.

"Poverty is a lack of thriving and productivity due to a deficit of relationships and resources."

-THE POVERTY TEAM

Goals

Social Capital - Connected

Self-Sufficiency - Ready

Housing - Livable

Decrease the total number of homeless families by 10% by 2020.

80% of the residents within all Census Tracts will have lived at the same address for one year or more by 2020.
